For this task, we were
to explore ourselves. Understanding oneself and using art expressions of varied
art forms to our personal interest.
Project 1: Self-Expression
through Object - REPRESENTING ME
[We were given a
chance to express ourselves through any form of art. Expressing to the audience
on what defined us as an individual. Our personality and what makes us, us.]
LEARNING OUTCOME
Identify and abstract
theme/ideas of the ‘self’
Construct a
representational piece of art based on the initial ideas that have been
abstracted and redefined through the process of translation and interpretation.

In Project 2, we are
supposed to work in a team of three, working together to accomplish this
assignment
Project 2: Self-Expression
through Architectural Space - ME IN SPACE
[In the beginning, we
asked to choose a space the defined us and proposed an installation for that
space with our personality as the core design. After that, we were to merge all
our design to one final installation that characterize all three of our
characteristics. We came out with an installation using rectangles plane folded in the middle to form an angled plane. Planes on both sides of the halves would have a intersection enabling the other planes to be insert in. Certain intersection would have different length of intersection, this is create the curve effect that we desire.]
LEARNING OUTCOME
Be able to identify
and articulate basic design principles in space and form
Be able to distinguish
and discern the role of scale and proportion in the relationship between the human
body and a designed space or enclosure
Design and produce a
space that embodies and expresses an idea or conceptual narrative

Creating
a form that allows us to self-express ourselves through exploration,
experimenting and finding how it will define us as a personal individual, by
combining all three of our ideas to the final product presented.
A cylindrical surface is generated by sliding
straight line along plane curve, as this can be seen by the series of plane
that are linked to create a linear pattern, an arrangement of rectangle planes
in series along a path in the model. As rectangle planes are bend and slotted
against each other in mid halfway of plane enabling us to create our product.
With the bended rectangle planes along structure create the illusion of rough
sharp edges with a sense of flow within the structure.
Merging overhead plane with parallel planes,
help support the model. Using an overhead plane provides a sense of enclosure
beneath its umbrella structure which is able to define a field space between
itself and the ground. Having the parallel planes as a vertical plane to help
support the horizontal element of space help defines a volume of space in
between them. Both together manage to establish a visual without disrupting the
flow of space within, allowing the user to rest beneath it.

On the last project, I
had to work with my four other group members for the group part of this
assignment. And there is also an individual task for this assignment.
Project 3: Space for
the Self - MY CITY DREAMSPACE
[In the beginning we
have chosen a movie, “Fifth Element,” and to choose a site from the movie to
build. Using the site model built, to place the hideout from the individual
task during the verbal presentation. ]
LEARNING OUTCOME
Design and produce a space that
embodies and expresses an idea or conceptual narrative.
Be able to distinguish and
discern the role of scale and proportion in the relationship between the human
body and a designed space or enclosure.
Be able to identify, articulate
and apply basic design principles in spatial organization and relationships.
Be able to select and apply
materials to embody and enhance the sensory experience of the space.
Be able to create, articulate
and illustrate the poetics of spatial quality.
